What services does Dad's Lawncare offer?

Mow, Trim, and Blow

This is our bread and butter. We will mow your lawn, trim/edge around your home, landscaping, trees, sidewalk and driveway, then clean up all of the clippings after.

Hedge and Bush Trimming

Hedges need trimmed? Bushes out of control? We can take care of that too.

Dog Poop Clean Up

We will happily clean up after man's best friend before each mow for an additional fee.

Where does Dad's Lawncare Service?

Zionsville, Indiana

We're family owned and operated here in Zionsville, Indiana. Our service area is focused on Zionsville and west Carmel. We may expand in the future.

Mowing and Maintenance

What happens if my lawn is wet?

As a professional lawn care service our clients expect us to keep their grass mowed on schedule. This requires us to make good judgment calls on when to delay a mow. During months of the year when your lawn is actively growing, it is better for us to come out and mow the lawn wet than it is to skip the lawn and run the risk of it going multiple weeks without a cut. There are times when ruts may be created in your lawn due to the lawn being wet when mowed. These ruts are almost always temporary and self fix as the lawn dries out.

If you ever feel like your lawn is too wet to be mowed on your scheduled day, please contact us right away and we will be happy to pause your service. We do our best to make the best decision for our clients, but because of the subjectivity of this type of situation it can be hard to get it right every time for every client’s preferences.

Do you bag the clippings?

Not usually. We prefer to mulch the clippings back into the lawn. It’s "free fertilizer" that returns nitrogen to the soil. However, if the grass is excessively long, we’ll bag it to ensure your yard looks pristine.

What brand of equipment do you use?

We proudly use Scag mowers for all of our maintenance. Scag is widely considered the gold standard in commercial mowing. Scag utilizes what they call a "Velocity Plus" deck, which has one of the highest blade-tip speeds in the industry. Instead of tearing or chewing the grass—which leaves ugly, brown, frayed tips that invite disease—our mowers cleanly slice every blade. A clean cut heals faster, retains moisture better, and keeps your grass looking deep green, even during our hot central Indiana summers. This is what leaves those baseball field stripes.

Preparation and Safety

What do I need to do before the crew arrives?

Just three things: Pick up any toys or garden hoses, clear the yard of dog poop (unless you'd like to schedule us to do that for you!), and make sure we have access to the fenced areas.

How high do you cut the grass?

We typically cut at 3.5 to 4 inches. Cutting it taller shades the soil, prevents weeds from germinating, and keeps the lawn green during those Zionsville dry spells.

Do I need to be home?

Nope! As long as the gate is unlocked and the dog is inside, we’ll handle the rest. We’ll send you a confirmation once the job is done.

Are you insured?

Absolutely. We're not taking any chances.
